THE PEOPLE’S MANIFESTO
I want to be cared for in A Loving Organization.
I want to work in A Loving Organization.
From Fear and Control to Love and Support
Healthcare was built to prevent harm — but over time, our fear has become encrusted in our systems leading to control, disengagement, burnout, loneliness, overwhelmingness, and frustration. Rules multiplied. Metrics replaced meaning. Hierarchies grew to manage risk, not relationships. The result? A culture where patients feel powerless, clinicians feel surveilled, and compassion feels unsafe.
A Loving Organization breaks that cycle. It replaces control with trust, hierarchy with collaboration, and competition with shared purpose. It designs systems through which love — presence, safety, and human connection — becomes a reliable outcome. The choice isn’t between love and performance. It’s between fear-based control and love-based excellence. With this campaign we choose differently together.
Why This Campaign Matters
This campaign invites patients, families, and communities to publicly declare what they truly want from healthcare: to be cared for in A Loving Organization; and for clinicians and healthcare workers to declare that they want to work in one. When thousands of patients and staff pledge their support, we create a powerful signal throughout the healthcare system that love is not just moral, it is market demand. Patients will choose loving organizations. Clinicians will stay and thrive in them. Insurers and regulators will reward them. This is how change begins — from the outside in, through the collective voice of those who receive and deliver.

About A Loving Organization (ALO)
A Loving Organization is a national movement and consortium of healthcare leaders, clinicians, and patients dedicated to transforming healthcare systems by embedding love — expressed through learning, connection, and accountability — into how organizations are led, managed, and measured. At the core of ALO is the INTEGRATE Operating System, an evidence-based framework that aligns nine interdependent sub-systems of an organization – leadership, teamwork, management, policies, workflows, culture, technology, community, and staff.
In A Loving Organization, you don’t just get care — you feel cared for by the whole system. We, the patients, families, and communities, prefer A Loving Organization for our care. We, the patients and families, believe that love belongs at every bedside and boardroom table. We thrive when care feels human, when our stories are heard, and when our caregivers are supported to lead with compassion.
This approach is not theoretical. It’s being demonstrated across the US by leading health systems such as Trinity Health (US), Baylor Scott & White (TX), Medical University of South Carolina (SC), Hackensack Meridian Health (NJ), University of Louisville Physicians Group (KY), Allegheny Health Network (PA), University Hospitals (OH), and Saint Luke’s University Health Network (PA) with remarkable outcomes across the board – all without putting more pressure on their people.
- 20–40% reductions in turnover among nurses and physicians
- Improved safety and engagement scores (Gallup, IHI, ANA benchmarks)
- Stronger patient experience results and lower burnout among staff
- Financial resilience, as love-based cultures correlate with higher retention and lower waste
These are the Loving Organizations that People want to be cared for in & want to work for.
