As a Work Place Culture Partner and Executive Coach, I partner with Physicians leaders to cretae humane cultures so each person can bring their whole self to their work. Healthcare workers and organization direction can then be touched by love and healing.
My dedication to healthcare began while serving as the Designated Caregiver for my husband, Michael. His diagnosis of autoimmune hepatitis led to two transplants, over forty hospitalizations and extensive medical care for fourteen years.
I witnessed dozens of Physicians working tirelessly to keep him and others alive demanding long work hours, too long and in very stressful circumstances. Their genuine care and love for both me and Michael touched our souls. My desire to care for Physicians is born from the deep gratitude I feel for Michael’s Physicians and all who were in the struggle with us. This kind of dedication is often demanded of Physicians and Healthcare workers and is not sustainable.
We know this because Physician burnout and suicide is staggering!
Healthcare culture can be energizing and create caring and loving work places. Physicians, Healthcare workers and Patients will thrive in a humane culture.
